Include Optomap in your enhanced eye examination

Our enhanced eye exam gives you the most detailed picture of your eye health. Like every NHS-funded examination in Scotland, it is free of charge to you, but we also recommend adding Optomap imaging for a small additional fee.

Optomap takes a wide view image of the back of your eye, helping us detect even the smallest changes. This means we can spot potential problems earlier – often before you notice any symptoms yourself. Many of our patients choose Optomap for the extra reassurance it brings.

NHS eye tests

Every patient in Scotland is entitled to a free NHS eye examination. During this appointment, we’ll check your vision, update your prescription if needed, and look at the health of your eyes. If further tests are required, we’ll explain these clearly and guide you through the next steps.

Looking after your eye health

As we grow older, our eyes naturally change. Some conditions are more common with age, such as:

  • Dry eye – when your eyes feel gritty, sore, or watery.
  • Cataracts – cloudy patches in the lens of the eye, which can blur vision.
  • Glaucoma – a condition caused by pressure build-up that can damage the optic nerve.
  • Macular degeneration – affecting central vision, often making reading and recognising faces more difficult.

We run specialist clinics to monitor and manage these conditions. Regular eye examinations allow us to keep a close watch on your eye health and provide advice and treatment when needed.

If you need glasses or contact lenses

Should you need a prescription, we’ll talk you through your options. At Stephen Cuddy Optometrists, we offer a wide range of frames to suit all styles and budgets, as well as comfortable contact lens options. Our team is here to help you choose what’s right for you.
